Our concept

A Maharashtrian home table, now in Tokyo.

Desai’s began in June 2022 with a simple purpose: to serve the honest, generous flavours of Maharashtra in Japan without losing the feeling of food cooked at home.

Why Desai’s exists

Maharashtrian cuisine is still rarely represented in Japan. We created Desai’s so Tokyo diners—and Maharashtrian families missing home—could experience regional recipes with their true character intact.

Around 60% of our menu consists of dishes introduced in Japan for the first time, or specialities available only at Desai’s.

Food with roots

Homely authenticity: recipes grounded in family kitchens.

Regional character: distinctive masalas, textures and traditions from across Maharashtra.

Festival tables: seasonal menus that preserve the food memories of Gudi Padwa, Ganpati, Diwali and more.
